Detailed Description of Elevator Compensation Chain
The elevator compensation chain is an essential component of the elevator counterweight compensation system, installed between the bottom of the elevator car and the counterweight frame. It is widely used on medium and high-rise elevators with a lifting height over 30 meters to balance the self-weight difference of traction steel ropes and traveling cables during up and down operation.
Classification & Structure
Three mainstream types are available: PVC/TPU plastic-coated chain (general standard type with galvanized steel inner chain), rope-wrapped carbon steel chain (low-cost for old elevators), and fully rubber-enclosed alloy steel chain (heavy-duty for harsh environments). The plastic and rubber outer layers serve for noise reduction and corrosion protection.
Main Functions
1. Compensate weight difference dynamically to reduce the load of the traction motor and avoid jitter during start and stop;
2. Absorb impact and eliminate collision noise of the inner steel chain to improve riding comfort;
3. Protect the internal metal chain from rust, dust and oil erosion;
4. Prevent chain tangling and excessive swinging in the pit for operational safety.
